Lauren (She/Her/They) is a PhD student in the Literary Studies/Theatre Studies program at the University of Guelph. She completed an Honours BA at McMaster University with majors in Cultural Studies & Critical Theory and Sociology. Lauren also completed her Master’s degree at McMaster University in Gender Studies and Feminist Research.

Lauren’s research interests include gender, sexuality, homonormativity, media, trauma and experiential education. Her Independent Research Project titled, “A Traditional Family Sitcom: An Analysis of Homonormativity in the Television Show Modern Family” analyzed multiple episodes to investigate the presentation of lifestyle and use of the family sitcom genre. Her current work continues this analysis of queerness by examining queer resistance online, specifically surrounding mainstream media and the way this content is taken up and defied in digital queer spaces.
