Differential expression patterns between mice exposed to chronic pain and controls

The Descalzi lab has a project to investigate the gene expression patterns in 3 different brain regions of adult male mice. The study will analyze a large data set of gene expression patterns in the medial prefrontal cortex, nucleus accumbens, and periaqueductal grey. Students will perform analysis in R to determine differential expression patterns between mice exposed to chronic pain and controls. Students will be asked to compare the data set with publicly available cell-specific gene expression data sets, inflammatory pathways, and perform statistics to determine correlative expression patterns.

The student will be required to have experience with using R packages.
