Automatic annotation pipeline for genes in livestock animals via comparative genomics

Whole-genome sequencing of livestock animals is performed routinely these days and yet, there is a lot of information missing with respect to genes and their function. One approach to infer functionality computationally is to look at evolutionary related species with better or longer studied genomes. This project aims to design, develop, test and validate an automatic annotation pipeline that leverages comparative genomics techniques to enhance gene knowledge in livestock animal species relevant to Ontario agriculture.
