Here is the presentation from the program meeting.
Please mark your calendars for Wednesday, September 5th for the Bachelor of Landscape Architecture Program Meeting. I will be in the Landscape Architecture building main foyer "the Pit" to meet with you at 10:00am. Note that there is no program meeting on Tuesday.
PHIL 1010 is currently full. Please select another option from the PSYC 1000, SOC 1100 and ANTH 1150 list but check back to see if more spots open in PHIL 1010 over the summer.
I just wanted to give a bit of insight into how first year courses are monitored by departments and how it conflicts with the time of day when many of you are selecting courses. Most of us leave work before 5:00pm; just when course selection is really getting started by students as you get home from school or work. This may sometimes mean that spaces fill up overnight when students are selecting and staff members are not monitoring spaces in courses. In the morning, around 8:30am, staff will review the overnight course selection and at that point, will open more spaces if they are able to.
One of the decisions you will make this Fall is the elective course you take. If you are stuck on this, I will first recommend you have a look at the First Year Seminar course (UNIV 1200). This is a course with several seminar times, each with a unique topic. The section you select will determine the topic you learn for the semester. More information can be found on the First Year Seminar website.
Welcome new students! Congratulations on your decision to join the University of Guelph family.
Any important news about course selection will be posted on this website, so please check back if you have a question to see if it is addressed here. If not, please contact Melinda Vanryn (firstname.lastname@example.org) with your questions.
Course selection for first year students has closed. The Add Period will run from August 21st, 2017 to September 15th, 2017; students can add and drop courses during the Add Period for the Fall semester. If you were unable to select all of your courses please let me (Melinda, email@example.com) know asap so we know how many students still require it.
PSYC 1000 has removed the restrictions on the 01 and 02 sections (note that 01 still has limited restrictions, but includes BLA). Thanks for your patience with this!
Course selection for incoming first year students will end on July 5th. Please contact the Program Counselling Office at 519-824-4120 ext. 54800 if you are having troubles with your course selection (note that the office is closed on the weekends and the University is closed on Monday, July 3rd). The next course selection period will be open from August 21st to September 15th.
SECOND UPDATE: SOC 1100 has decided to only open up the online (DE) version of the course. I will update if the in-class becomes available. ANTH 1150 has only opened the 01 section.
UPDATE: More in-class sections of ANTH 1150, SOC 1100 and PHIL 1010 are now open. Please act fast to select a spot in one of these courses if you would like to select it for the Fall. PSYC 1000 continues to be restricted.
