Many courses are doing what is called “rolling enrollment”. This means they are opening spots throughout the course selection period with hopes of giving students with later selection windows equal opportunity to add courses. If a course is full and the cap looks suspiciously low (nothing is capped at 5!), they are likely using the rolling enrollment system.
Many first year courses will be restricted to first year students only. This is to ensure they are able to get their required courses. Restrictions on most first year courses will be removed November 23rd.
Courses affected are listed on the course restriction page.
Introduction to Controlled Environment Systems:
To accommodate the increased enrollment of this course (due to its use as a substitution for ENVS 2340) and to correct a conflict with another course (for another major), ENVS 2040 has changed times and is now being offered Thursdays 19:00-21:50. ENVS 2340 has been removed from the schedule.
As noted in my email to the listserv, if you require ENVS 2340 for your major, you will need to take ENVS 2040 instead.
I know ENVS 2340 is posted on the schedule, but I can guarantee it will be removed. ENVS 2040 needs to change its time due to a conflict (with another course for another degree program), so watch for ENVS 2340 to be removed and ENVS 2040 to change times (likely to a night class) in the near future.
Course Selection for the Winter semester begins on November 5th, 2018. Your selection time will depend on your class level. Your class level is listed on your Program/Academic Evaluation (available on WebAdvisor). Your time to start signing up for courses will be provided to you by the Registrar's Office soon. It will also be listed on WebAdvisor (as an announcement on the Student page).
Windows will be opened from November 5th to November 14th. Course selection will remain open until January 11th, 2019.
Please note that Friday, September 14th is the last day to add classes for Fall 2018. Permission to add late is not guaranteed as the policy states that permission will only be granted in exceptional circumstances (illness or compassionate grounds for missing all or part of the first three class days; interchanging courses with common lectures, one with and one without labs; late resolution of appeals; failure of a deferred course condition or examination; university errors in registration procedures), so please make sure you have all of your courses added by Friday.
Courses are filling up quickly so if you are struggling finding sections that work, please contact our office by contacting Melinda (ext 54549, email@example.com). Please note that most courses will not open new spaces on WebAdvisor, so please contact me asap. While you wait to hear from me, I also encourage you to keep checking on WebAdvisor in case there are spaces that become available. The schedules are in flux right now so you may find a section that works an hour after there were none!
The restriction on most first year courses will be removed July 17th at 8am. First years, this means spots will start to go very quickly! Upper years, the same for you; if you want a spot in a first year course, make sure you login on the 17th.
In order to remove the restrictions on first year courses, WebAdvisor needs to close. It will be closed as of 8am on July 16th and re-open July 17th at 8am.
