U of G Business alumni find success during 2018 municipal election

Voters across Ontario went to the polls on October 22 to cast their ballots in municipal elections, with many ballots featuring the names of University of Guelph business alumni.

Congratulations to the following U of G business alumni on their successful campaigns:

Corrine Rahman (MA, Leadership alumna)

Rahman was elected as Trustee for the Thames Valley District School Board in Wards 2-6 in London, Ontario.

Dominique O’Rourke (MA, Leadership alumna)

O’Rourke was elected one of two city councilors for ward 6 on Guelph City Council. She was one of two candidates to win in 2018, among ten incumbents being reelected.

Leanne Piper (MA, Leadership alumna)

Piper was re-elected to ward 5 on Guelph City Council. She was first elected in 2006 and has served the residents of Ward 5 since. Previously, Piper was elected to the Upper Grand District School Board as a trustee in 2003.

Michael Harris (MA, Leadership alumnus)

Harris was elected to the Kitchener Regional Council. He previously served as the MPP for Kitchener-Conestoga between 2011 and 2018.

Sergio Morales (BComm alumnus)

Morales was acclaimed to Barrie City Council for Ward 9. He was the only sitting member of Barrie’s city council to be acclaimed in 2018. Morales was first elected to Barrie City Council in 2014 at the age of 21, while still enrolled in the University of Guelph’s Bachelor of Commerce program.
