Leaders in Environmentally Accountable Food Service (LEAF) released it second annual list of Canada's Greenest Restaurants and for the second year in a row, PJ's Restaurant has been recognized with this achievement. It is their hope that this list will inform customers of establishments that are doing their part to reduce the impact the restaurant industry has on the environment.

The National Post reports about a taxpayer-funded food truck in Mexico to promote Canadian cuisine. The food truck is serving up Mexicanized poutine, beef tourtiere and Albacore tuna however, UofG's Food Laureate, Anita Stewart believes it may be impossible to sell an authentic Canadian cuisine because it doesn't exist. The Guelph Mercury's Urban Cowboy, Owen Roberts, discusses how Cafe Scientific forums allow an opportunity for the community and researchers to exchange information about food and health. Associate CME Dean, Research and Graduate Studies, Sylvain Charlebois was the moderator at the forum on Obesity, Diabetes and Nutrition across the Lifespan: Implications for Health and Food Security, and notes the importance of engaging the local public on these issues.

CME Dean Julia Christensen Hughes was part of a panel discussion around the future of higher education on the Steve Paikin hosted current affairs program, The Agenda. The show covered topics such as partnerships between colleges and universities, institutional branding, pedagogy and economics of higher education. Watch the full TVO's The Agenda episode.

The Fraser Institute has released a report by Ross McKitrick, Environmental and Economic Consequences of Ontario's Green Energy Act, which brings to light the increasing cost of energy in the province and predicts an increase of 40 to 50 per cent over the next few years. It supports that Ontario's Green Energy Act is causing energy prices to soar and is now 10 times costlier than an alternative that would have yielded the same benefits.

Featured in the Financial Post, Associate Professor Sean Lyons' research shows that by the age of 30, employees in this age group have changed jobs three times as often as those in older groups. As a result, it may be unrealistic to retain Millennials and instead maximize the opportunity while they are currently with the company. Associate Professor, Theo Noseworthy's research suggests that people are less likely to spend crisp, clean bills and is featured in Metro News. The study co-authored by University of Winnipeg's Fabrizio Di Muro, studied the spending habits of consumers who were given either crisp or worn bills. Professor of Economics, Ross McKitrick's special to the Financial Post, discusses the 11,000-year study's 20th century claim on temperature reconstructions. The study, A reconstruction of regional and global temperature for the past 11,300 years, made a discovery that 20th century warming was a wild departure form anything seen in over 11,000 years. A claim, that over the weekend, they admitted was groundless. Read McKitrick's full article.
