Curriculum Development - Undergraduate

BComm. Program Committee

At the undergraduate level, curriculum developments are overseen by the Bachelor of Commerce Program Committee (BCPC). This committee is responsible for the academic quality and integrity of the Bachelor of Commerce degree, and is a sub-committee of the Board of Undergraduate Studies (BUGS) which reports to Senate. Responsibilities of the committee include, but are not limited to, managing changes to admissions requirements, schedules of studies, course additions and deletions, and the development of intended learning outcomes at the degree level. The Chair of BCPC is the Associate-Dean, Academic from the Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics.

All proposed changes to the BComm degree must be approved by BCPC. Membership of the committee is determined by Senate requirements and includes faculty representation from the Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics and the Ontario Agricultural College, Program counsellors, current BComm students, as well as a faculty representative from another unit on campus.

Changes to the curriculum can be proposed and submitted to BCPC from any individual within the School. Changes are normally first submitted to the appropriate curriculum committee at the departmental or school level. Once approved by the curriculum committee, the changes are sent to the office of the Associate-Dean, Academic prior to being presented at BCPC. BCPC then reviews the requested changes, and if approved, changes are sent on to the Calendar Review Committee (CRC), then to BUGS, and finally to Senate.  More information on the submission process for changes can be found here.
