Jacob Elliot, CBaSE Peer Helper

Hey everyone! I’d like to introduce myself, my name is Jake – I’m a third-year Finance and Economics student here at Guelph, and I’d like to tell you about a project myself and my partner Nathan have been working on these last few months as part of our involvement as Student Life Peer Helpers.

Before we get into that, I’d like to take a quick second and tell you a bit more about my past. I first discovered my passion for entrepreneurship when I was still in elementary school, I found myself making deals on the playground for a variety of trading cards amongst my friends and I caught the business bug – I then went on to start my own company in high school called “EZPlanters” that helped the aging population of my hometown become hands on gardeners again. Currently I’m an Business Development Manager for a student run start-up called “Candy Cutlery” that introduces sustainability into the disposable cutlery and drinkware industry!

Every day I find myself with new opportunities on the table because of my involvement with business and entrepreneurship and I’d like to tell you a bit about what I do with CBaSE in hopes that it inspires you to come out and do the same. Together, with my peer-partner Nathan, we organize the CBaSE Ambassador program. The program aims to organize like-minded individuals to promote innovation and entrepreneurship to all colleges on campus – together with our team of dedicated Ambassadors, we’ve reached out to and connected with hundreds of students each of which have an idea they want to grow, a network they want to build or a love for sustainable business!
If you’d like to learn more about what we do, I urge you to come to one of our events and say hi to myself or Nathan, or reach out to us via email.

More information can be found on the CBaSE website and social media accounts as well!
