B-Corp Bootcamp: Entrepreneurship with Impact

Creating Business with Impact

Learn business sustainability basics and the ins-and-outs of B Corp certification in this 2.5 hour interactive workshop happening November 1st from 2-4:30pm. Whether you are a start-up or a well-established business come learn about the certification process and tools and resources for improving your impact. Find out more and register here.

 

Sustainability Social

Join us for a causal networking event for professionals with a sustainable business mindset. This social will take place on November 1st directly following our B-Corp Bootcamp from 4:30-6pm. The event is free and open to the public – we’d love to see you there! Come out for a drink, some snacks and a great community discussion, let’s be inspired together!

Hub applications for Winter 18 close November 5th!

The Hub is an opportunity for Guelph students and alumni to bring their ideas to life. The Hub provides mentorship, training, funding, office space and access to experienced entrepreneurs.

The CBaSE Couch

1-in-5 Mental Health Awareness

In support of the 1-in-5 Mental Health Awareness initiative at the University of Guelph, CBaSE will be hosting a special Couch session. We will be on the main floor of MacDonald Hall on Monday November 6th from 10am to 2pm.

Together with Enactus and the Entrepreneurship Society, we will be handing out 1-in-5 t-shirts, feel free to come by and show your support!

The Bigger Picture Series – The Business of Farm to Fork

The Bigger Picture Series Presents: The Business of Farm to Fork
Save the date in your calendars! On November 22nd The Bigger Picture Series is pleased to present The Business of Farm to Fork. This panel discussion will develop and explore themes and ideas spanning the entire value chain of bringing food from farm to fork. Emphasis will be placed on producing and consuming both locally and ethically, as we all strive towards a more sustainable existence.

This event will run from 5:30-7pm in Macdonald Hall 232. Learn more and register for the Bigger Picture Series.

Looking for space to work with like-minded individuals? Want to bounce ideas off your peers or get their advice?

Monday afternoons from 12pm – 4pm come to the CBaSE boardroom for informal co-working sessions. Bring whatever you’re working on and come with an open mind and a willingness to help and be helped.

This Month at CBaSE - October 2017

CBaSE Circuit – Starting Lean

Starting Lean is a four week program based on Silicon Valley Guru Steve Blank's Lean Launchpad course. It pushes teams through all of the pressures and demands of an early stage startup. The program is designed to provide experience in how to work as a team to turn an idea into a company.

This course consists of four workshops:

  • Developing a Big Impact Idea (October 5th)
  • Developing a Value Proposition (October 12th) 
  • Developing a Business Model (October 19th)
  • Conducting Customer Discovery (October 26th)

Improv for Business – The Making Box Workshop

Think outside the box and join us at this free professional development workshop led by the Making Box. You will leave with an increased confidence in listening and communicating that will enhance your:

  • Presentation skills
  • Interview skills
  • Teamwork
  • Ability to speak with clients

Learn about active listening and effective communication using improv in this fun and interactive workshop.
