CBS Computer Labs

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the CBS Computer labs are unavailable for student use.  Students wishing to use course software may download software onto their own computers using the following links:

Image Lab (free registration is required before download)


Maple (free 15 day trial)


Matlab (free 30 day trial)








R Software


R Studio (IDE environment for R)


SAS software (free trial for 14 days with option to extend)


SPSS (trial version extended until June 15, 2020)



CBS currently has 2 computer labs located in the Summerlee Science Complex, Rooms 1304 and 1306.  Each lab consists of 22 student computers along with 1 instructor station.  Although there is a desktop computer located in the instructor station, users may also bring and connect their own laptop.  Each lab also has projectors and screens linked to our instructor stations.  In order to use a projector a special unlock code is required.  The code must be requested when booking a lab.

Please note that we do not offer software installations in the labs on short notice, aside from end users installing software which is subsequently deleted upon reboot of the computer.  Software can be installed with enough notice and is done between semesters.  Users wanting software installed in the labs should contact Chayan Chowdhury at x56290 or 

Users of the CBS computer labs have the ability to print to the printer(s) located in the Library.  When a print job is sent, it is held until the end user arrives at the printer at which point they can release the print job for printing.  The printer(s) are located on the 1st floor of the Library.  Please note there is a fee for printing. Further information can be found using the links below:
