Change Your Password

Your password represents your security on the university's networks. Treat it with the same care you would your PIN number for your debit and credit cards - keep it to yourself!

Things you should know about passwords:

  • they are case-sensitive
  • they must be 8 to 14 characters in length
  • they should be hard to guess by somebody else, but easy for you to remember so you don't have to write it down
  • they should not be a word that can be found in a dictionary of any language
  • they should be a mix of characters, including members of at least three groups of: capital letters, lower case letters, numbers, and simple punctuation or special characters such as $ ( ) ! + - _ . = { }
  • please note that these characters are not allowed as they may be problematic for some applications: < > ' " ; , @ \ % & `
  • they should be changed regularly
  • they should never be re-used
