IT Asset and Data Disposal Policy

Previously known as the IT Asset and Data Disposal Guideline, this newly created policy is focused on the protection of confidential and sensitive University information from inadvertent disclosure, preventing unauthorized redeployment of licensed software, and promoting environmental considerations when disposing of Information Technology (IT) equipment.

The Policy includes much of the information from the previous guideline, however it now includes specific policy statements and detailed responsibilities around asset and data disposal. The Appendices have also been updated and are meant to provide a technical reference that will be updated as technology changes over time.

For more information, see the full IT Asset and Data Disposal Policy.pdf  approved on January 17, 2023.

Please note that the cost for hard drive shredding has increased to $8/drive as of February 2024.
