Panel Discussions

The Information Security team will be hosting two virtual panel discussions in October that are primarily aimed at students. Both sessions are free to attend and all student attendees will be entered into a draw for a brand new iPad after each event!

  • “Careers in Cyber Security” - COMPLETED. Thanks to all that attended!
The first panel discussion will be held on Wednesday October 14th @12pm and is focused on “Careers in Cyber Security”. During this one-hour session several members of the Information Security team will share their different paths to a career in cyber security, and then we will answer questions from participants to help them on their own journey towards a career in security.

  • “Ask the Information Security Team” - COMPLETED. Thanks to all that attended!
Got a question about malware? Or how we protect the University network from cyber threats? Our second panel discussion will be held on Wednesday October 28th @12pm, and in this session we will open the floor to everyone with questions for our “Ask the Information Security Team” event. During this session we will invite questions on anything and everything related to cyber security – phishing, device security, social media security, malware, social engineering, incident response, or any other topic of interest.

Online Activities

Capture the Flag

Everyone is invited to participate in our online Capture the Flag Challenge. In this online game, your goal is to accumulate as many flags (points) as you can by answering cyber security questions and solving problems. The challenges range in difficulty so there is something for everyone.

Prizes will be awarded to the players with the most points at the end of October.

  • 1st, 2nd, and 3rd players with the most points = $50 Starbucks Giftcards
  • 4th and 5th most points = $25 Starbucks Giftcards

Escape Room

You are trapped in your dorm room and the only way out is by solving cyber security puzzles!  The Information Security team has put together an online virtual Escape Room. It works just like other escape rooms - the door to get out is locked and you need to interact with objects in the environment to find useful items and use them to solve puzzles in order to get out.

It should take approxmiately 30 minutes to solve all of the puzzles to escape. Everyone that gets out will be eligible to enter a draw for ONE of TEN $25 Starbucks gift cards!

Plus, there is a second hidden advanced puzzle within the game that will get you entered into a second draw for ONE of FOUR $25 Starbucks gift cards! Happy Hunting!
