Mac Mail Configuration
/!\ NOTE: CCS does not provide support for configuration or use of Mac Mail as a email client. For support for Mac Mail, please refer to Apple Mac Apps Support.
Mac Mail Configuration Options:
Mac Mail Exchange Setup
- Begin by launching the mac Mail App.
- On the menu bar at the top of the screen, go to "Mail" then click "Accounts". If you have not configured an account in Mail you will be prompted to add an account.
- On the new window that has appeared, click "Exchange", then do the following:
- Enter your name under "Name".
- Enter your email address (yourID@uoguelph.ca) under "Email Address".
- Click "Sign In".
- If a popup window appears saying "Internet Accounts can't verify the identity of the server "autodiscover.uoguelph.ca", click "Continue". Then enter the following:
- Enter your email under (yourID@uoguelph.ca) "Email Address".
- Skip the "User Name" category.
- Enter your password (central ID password) under "Password".
- Enter "outlook.office365.com" under "Internal URL".
- Enter "outlook.office365.com" under "External URL".
- Ensure that Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Reminders and Notes are checked, then click "Done". Then close this window once the account has been added.
- Go to "Mail" on the menu bar, then click "Preferences". On the window that pops up, click "Accounts" and under the "Trash" section select "Never" in the menu.
Mac Mail IMAP Setup
- Begin by launching the mac Mail App.
- On the menu bar at the top of the screen, go to "Mail" then click "Accounts". If you have not configured an account in Mail you will be prompted to add an account.
- At the bottom of the window, click the "+" button, then select "Other Mail Account...", then click "Continue".
- Enter the following:
- Enter your email address (yourID@uoguelph.ca) under "Email Address".
- Skip the "User Name" category.
- Enter your password (central ID password) under "Password".
- Select "IMAP" under "Account Type".
- Enter "Outlook.office365.com" under "Incoming Mail Server".
- Enter "Outlook.office365.com" under "Outgoing Mail Server".
- Click "Sign In".
- Ensure that "Mail" and "Notes" are selected, then click "Done".
- Go to "Mail" on the menu bar, then click "Preferences". On the window that pops up, click "Accounts" and under the "Trash" section select "Never" in the menu.
