User Options Page Enhancements
CISCO User Options has been updated with a new user interface.
The telephony self-administration service allows you to customize your telephony environment at the University of Guelph. The userID and password required to access the self-administration service is synchronized with the central userID and password. Your userID and password must be associated with the phone(s) you wish to modify before you can access this service.

Cisco Unified CM User Options
The Cisco Unified CM User Options [3] allow you to customize a number of telephone settings via the web.
Note: The Cisco Unified CM User Options [3] web page is only accessible from on-campus. If you are off-campus, you will need to establish a VPN session first (Login to VPN with your userID - NOT as cfs\userID) before accessing the Cisco Unified CM User Options [3] web page. More about VPN can be found here [4].
Forward all Calls
This feature allows you to forward any of your extensions, a feature not currently available on the phone. This feature also allows you to forward more than one extension at a time.
To forward all calls:
- Log in to the Cisco Unified CM User Options [3] web page. Ensure you are on the Phones page (the Phones page tab is located at the top of the page).
- Select Call Forwarding from the left side of the page.
- Select an extension from the list.
- Place a checkmark in the box, select Voicemail or select Add a new number (from the drop down menu), and enter an extension.
- Press Save.
To cancel forwarding:
- Log in to the Cisco Unified CM User Options [3] web page. Ensure you are on the Phones page (the Phones page tab is located at the top of the page).
- Select Call Forwarding from the left side of the page.
- Select an extension from the list.
- Uncheck the box.
- Press Save.
Note: The forwarding web page will accept any forwarding destination, unlike the phone, which will inform you of an invalid destination. Once you have forwarded your phone using the Self Care Portal, check that your phone is forwarded properly by dialling your extension.
Add/Update your Speed Dials
Add/Update your Speed Dials feature allows you to manage the speed dials associated with a particular phone. Speed Dials can be accessed one of two ways, either through Abbreviated Dialing [5] or with a Speed Dial [6] button on your phone.
To add or update a speed dial:
- Log in to the Cisco Unified CM User Options [3]web page. Ensure you are on the Phones page (the Phones page tab is located at the top of the page).
- Select Phone Settings from the left side of the page.
- Select Speed Dial Numbers.
- Select the phone (if there is more than one). Select Add New Speed Dial.
- Enter the phone number on the first line. Remember to add a 9 for all local off-campus numbers. **
- Enter the description on the second line.
- Enter number 1 on the third line, increasing this number (by 1) for subsequent Speed Dial entries.
- Press Save.
To remove a speed dial:
- Log in to the Cisco Unified CM User Options [3] web page.Ensure you are on the Phones page (the Phones page tab is located at the top of the page).
- Select Phone Settings tab from the left side of the page.
- Select Speed Dial Numbers.
- Select the phone (if there is more than one).
- Select the X beside the Speed Dial you want to remove from the phone.
- The screen will display Delete Speed Dial, Are you sure you want to delete this speed dial?
- Select Yes.
**eg. 95195551212 and a 91 (or 9011) for all long distance off-campus numbers, eg. 914165551212. Do not include hyphens or brackets. The symbols * and # are valid entries. No pauses are available with speed dials.
Change the Voicemail Notifications for your phone
Change the Voicemail Notifications for your phone feature allows you to change the way your phone triggers the message waiting light and/or prompt when you receive voicemail. To change the Voicemail Notifications for your phone:
- Log in to the Cisco Unified CM User Options [3] web page. Ensure you are on the Phones page (the Phones page tab is located at the top of the page).
- Select Phone Settings from the left side of the page.
- Select Voicemail Notification Settings.
- Select an extension from the list. Initially, all boxes under Voicemail Notifications are blank.
- Place a checkmark in any or all of the boxes under Voicemail Notifications.
- Press Save.
Note: The default setting for your primary extension is "Turn on the message waiting light" and "Display a prompt on the screen". The system policy for all other lines is "Display a prompt on the screen".
Note: "Light" refers to the red LED on your handset and "Prompt" refers to the "You Have VoiceMail" status that displays on the phone. The envelope which appears by your extension will always appear when there is voicemail.
Change the Ring Settings for your phone
Change the Ring Settings for your phone feature allows you to change the way each extension on your phone rings when you receive a call. You can set each extension to ring differently when the phone rings and you are on a call, or not on a call.
- Log in to the Cisco Unified CM User Options [3] web page. Ensure you are on the Phones page (the Phones page tab is located at the top of the page).
- Select Phone Settings from the left side of the page.
- Select Ring Settings.
- Unlink the phones by selecting the unlink button .
- Select the phone (if there is more than one).
- Select an extension from the list.
- Select an option from the drop down list when you are on a call, and when you are not on a a call.
- Press Save.
Note: The default ring setting when the phone is idle is Ring. The default setting when the phone is in use is Beep Only.
Change the Line Label for your phone
Change the Line Label Settings for your phone feature allows you to change the text that appears beside the extension button on your phone. To change the line label on your phone:
- Log in to the Cisco Unified CM User Options [3] web page. Ensure you are on the Phones page (the Phones page tab is located at the top of the page).
- Select My Phones from the left side of the page.
- Select the phone (if there is more than one). Select Edit.
- Enter the Label beside the extension (see Note below).
- Press Save.
You can change the line label for every extension except the primary extension. Please contact the MacDesk using our on-line request application to change the line label for your primary extension.
Note: The line label overrides the existing extension display. Label with a name and extension if you want to retain the extension number, eg. "Group Line - 51234". In addition, only the last five characters of the text label are usually visible when the phone's display changes during a call.
Log Missed Calls
For users with a 7942/7962 (Ridgetown Campus).
When you check the Log Missed Calls box on the Line Settings page, your phone will save a record of all missed calls in the Call History for the phone. If you do not want your phone to save a record of missed calls, leave the Log Missed Calls check box unchecked.
- Log in to the Cisco Unified CM User Options [3] web page. Ensure you are on the Phones page (the Phones page tab is located at the top of the page).
- Select Phone Settings from the left side of the page.
- Select Call History.
- Select an extension from the list.
- Uncheck the box if you do not want to log missed calls.
- Press Save.
