Full disk encryption to secure personal computers, laptops or portable storage devices which store sensitive data.
Sensitive data is considered, at least, to be personal information as defined by Ontario's PHIPA and FIPPA legislation. Data held under these legal restrictions, if compromised (e.g. lost or stolen laptop or storage device) requires public disclosure to the legal authorities governing the data. By fully encrypting the storage device, however, the data is considered secure, even in the event of a lost or stolen device.
