Sponsored accounts are available to people who have a significant affiliation with the University and need access to the University’s computing services.
There are two classifications, Academic Visitors and Non-Academic Visitors.
Academic Visitors
This refers to users who will require access to library and computing resources, such as:
- Professionals supervising students in work placements.
- Visiting academics.
- Visiting students.
To sponsor an Academic Visitor, please see the FASR process for Nil-Salaried Academic Appointments [1].

This refers to the “traditional” sponsored account, for those requiring basic access to central login resources (e.g., WiFi). Examples include:
- Contractors
- Guests
- Volunteers
Sponsored accounts must be requested by Department Chairs, Deans, Directors, or Managers by completing the online Central Login Account Request Form [2].
To determine the services that are available to sponsored users, refer to the Service Summary [3].
The length of time that sponsored accounts stay in effect depends on the type of role.
