This service provides enterprise class storage to departmental, faculty and researcher servers on a cost sharing, subscription basis.

Highlights of the Storage Service include:

  • Primary Data stored on an Enterprise Class Device physically protected in an access controlled data center.
  • Data protected by full hardware redundancy and high levels of disk RAID Protection.
  • Supported by experienced technical staff dedicated to this service.

The service is not meant to provide desktop computer storage which is provided by the Central File Service

This service provides storage for other CCS services including:

  • Central File Service
  • Virtual Infrastructure
  • Enterprise Applications

In addition, storage is provided for clients' server class computers in support of various client applications and space requirements.

Daily backup of the data is included in the subscription cost. Disk backups are stored on campus and replicated off-site.

This service costs $600 per year for each 500 Gb unit of space that you request. Costs are billed when the space is requested and, thereafter, at the start of each fiscal year on May 1, the costs are based on the amount of space that you request, not on the amount of space that you use.

You cannot exceed that amount of space that you have requested. If you require additional space, you must purchase additional blocks of storage. If additional storage is required, then additional units of storage must be acquired at additional cost. Off-site backups charges $75 annually.

Item Expectation
Server availability 24/7 except during scheduled maintenance periods.
Storage request Initial response by the next business day. Request completion depends on complexity of the request
Change access rights Clients control usage of the storage we provide - we do not manage access rights.
