Gryph Mail

Service Description:

Gryph Mail is the University's email, calendaring and collaborative suite of services.  Please see our Getting Started page for information on setting up/accessing your Gryph Mail.

Effective May 1, 2014 the way you access your U of G email has changed, please visit the logging-in page for more information.

There are six components:

  1. Email hosting service for communication. This component manages the University email accounts and can be accessed directly through a web browser or indirectly through an external email application (for example, Thunderbird, Microsoft Outlook Express, or Windows Live Mail) and mobile devices (for example, BlackBerry).

Note:  By viewing Gryph Mail through an external application, the user loses access to some of the application's collaborative tools.

  1. Address Book for organization and collaboration.
  2. Calendar for organization and collaboration.
  3. Document sharing and editing for collaboration.
  4. File storage for organization.
  5. Task management for organization.

The amount of information that can be stored on the system is limited. See Gryph Mail Quotas. Also, there are some restrictions on the size and content of e-mail attachments that can be either sent or received:

  • The size of an email message is limited to 50 MB.
  • Encrypted or password protected attachments are prohibited.
  • Some file types are prohibited.

For details about these restrictions, see Attachments & Filtering.
