McAfee VirusScan is a complete anti-virus solution for personal computers running Windows 2000 Professional, Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 10 that will guard against current viruses, and includes an auto-update feature to protect against new viruses. The current version of McAfee Virus Scan supported by CCS is McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8.8 Patch 11.
McAfee VirusScan is available to all registered students, staff and faculty at no cost. Get a copy of McAfee VirusScan from the CCS software distribution site or go to the IT Help Desk to receive help downloading and installing it. Bring a USB flash drive if you require the download for a desktop but have issues downloading it yourself.

- Once you have downloaded the mcafee85.exe installation file from the CCS software distribution site, double click it and follow the instructions to complete the installation. Please note: if you have an older version of McAfee VirusScan (version 4.5.1, version 7.1.0, version 8.0i, or version 8.5i) it is recommended that you uninstall the older version manually first prior to installing version 8.7i. You can uninstall the older version by removing it from Add/Remove Programs which is found in the Control Panel.
- You must update McAfee VirusScan to ensure you have the latest definition files.
- If you are using a modem to connect to the internet, or if you declined the auto-updates during the installation process, you must manually update your virus definition files.
- Please note: It is vital that you continue to update your definition files on a weekly basis to ensure that the virus signatures are current.
