PhD thesis: The effect of alternative feeding strategies for broiler breeders

Profile

I am currently a postdoc in the Department of Animal Biosciences. I completed my PhD in Animal Behaviour and Welfare under the supervision of Dr. Stephanie Torrey, looking at feed restriction in broiler breeders. Feed restriction in broiler breeders is a worldwide welfare concern, and our project focuses on developing alternative feeding strategies in feed restricted broiler breeders under simulated commercial conditions and assessing its impact throughout the entire production circle. We aim to examine the effect of dietary dilution and non-daily feeding on physiological and behavioural hunger-related signs and bird’s health. With this project, our goal is to provide scientific based data from which poultry industry can recommend feeding strategies to promote broiler breeder’s well-being.
