The School of Computer Science is proud to announce that two students from the SoCS have won several awards at recent pitch competitions and hackathons.

Last Wednesday evening, Jason Ernst (SoCS) and Tom Hummel (SoE) - cofounders of RedTree Robotics - were selected as winners at the Startup Royale Pitch competition. The evening began with 15 startups, but the field was narrowed down to just 5 after a round of 2-minute pitches. For their efforts, RedTree Robotics was awarded $5000.

This past weekend Frazer Seymour, a 2nd year undergraduate student in Software Engineering (SoCS), headed to Toronto to take part in the DementiaHack hackathon. This international competition was sponsored by the British Consulate-General Toronto and HackerNest to address the issues faced by those who deal with the effects of dementia. Frazer and his team were presented with the Best Design Award for their application known as LifeBook.

Congratulations Jason, Tom, and Frazer. Job well done.
