The School of Computer Science welcomed alumnus Tim Bray back to the University of Guelph on January 15th, 2014 for a presentation and networking event on internet security and privacy.
Tim Bray is one of the University of Guelph’s more successful and notable alumni. After graduating with a B.SC. in Mathematics and Computer Science and working for a computer company and a telephone company, Mr. Bray became manager of the New Oxford English Dictionary Project at the University of Waterloo, which led to the co-founding of Open Text Corporation, Canada’s largest software company. He has helped raise five rounds of venture capital and is an occasional angel investor.
Mr. Bray has also written over a million words on his blog at tbray.org [1] and is widely followed on Twitter [2] and Google+. He has been working as a Developer and Advocate at Google since 2010, first on Android and more recently on Internet Identity and Security. He has strong roots at the University of Guelph; he received an Honorary Doctorate in 2009 [3], and is a strong supporter of the Better Planet Project.
