Co-curricular Inventory Process & Support
With the support of the University's Experiential Learning Advisory Committee, five co-curricular experiential learning categories have been identified. To better understand the depth and breadth of co-curricular experiential learning at the University of Guelph, the Experiential Learning Team is seeking to engage various offices and departments in a comprehensive inventory process. The primary goal of this work is to create a comprehensive and searchable database of experiential learning opportunities that will be hosted on our new Orbis Outcome enterprise system.
Departments will be asked to record student opportunities that fall under one of the co-curricular categories through an online form unless the opportunity is listed below. Departments and programs listed below will have a separate inventory process.
The form will capture the name of the opportunity, its Experiential Learning category, and details about the opportunity. The inventory tool will be launched the week of April 9, 2018 with a completion goal of Friday, April 27, 2018.
Departments and Programs with Separate Process
Starting in April 2018, we will be facilitating an inventory process directly with supervisors of student-staff positions in Athletics. This process will migrate positions to the new campus-wide experience catalogue and attach anticipated employability outcomes.
Peer Helper Program
We will work directly with the Peer Helper Program Office to cross-map existing team learning outcomes to updated employability outcomes. This will happen largely behind the scenes with checkpoints with supervisiors throughout Summer 2018.
We will work directly with Residence Life Management to cross-map existing staff learning outcomes to updated employability outcomes.
Undergraduate Research Assistantship (URA)
We will engage with Student Financial Services in Fall 2018 to incorporate emploaybility outcomes into the application process for 2019 URA positions.
Work Study supervisors will be contacted directly in April 2018 to begin the process of migrating positions from the existing job bank to the new campus-wide solution. The process will allow Work Study supervisors to revise their positions and attach anticipated employability outcomes.
Help and Support
Lunch and Learn
To ensure staff members are supported in filling out the inventory tool, The Experiential Learning Team will be offering Lunch and Learn sessions. The goal of these sessions will be to familiarize staff with the co-curricular experiential learning categories, review the inventory process, and have any remaining questions answered.
