In order to understand the full scope of experiential learning at U of G, it was important that we consider the student experience. As key stakeholders, students have an important perspective on the experiential learning opportunities offered both inside and outside the classroom. To explore the factors that impede or support student participation in experiential learning opportunities, a series of eight focus groups were hosted between the Guelph and Guelph-Humber campuses in Winter 2018. In these focus groups, we were able to connect with 54 students to capture the variety of factors affecting participation, including real or perceived barriers to accessing and participating in opportunities.

In addition to these focus groups, complimentary student surveys were distributed at all U of G campuses (Guelph, Guelph-Humber, and Ridgetown) to gain insight from a wide rang of students on their exposure to experiential learning opportunities. All surveys were closed on April 6, 2018.

Our hope is to have key results summarized by the end of May to help inform the work of the Experiential Learning Team moving forward.
