Position Description:
The School of Engineering at the University of Guelph invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level with a breadth of expertise in biomedical instrumentation. Successful candidates will have experience and demonstrated research abilities in one or more of the following areas: bio-photonics, bio-optics, biomedical microsystems (i.e., bio-MEMS), biomedical nanotechnology, radiological instrumentation (e.g., NMR, CT), and/or biomedical electronics.
The candidate will play a key role in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses such as bioinstrumentation design, biosignal processing, and core courses for biomedical engineering. The candidate should have a Bachelor of Engineering degree and a doctoral degree in Biomedical or Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
Successful candidates for this position will have demonstrated research abilities and be expected to develop an internationally recognized, externally funded research program. They will play a key role in teaching undergraduate program specific and core-engineering courses, mentoring graduate and undergraduate students, and providing service to the University and the engineering profession.
Preference will be given to candidates who combine excellence in teaching with a demonstrated capacity to conduct novel, interdisciplinary research that will expand and complement our current research strengths. Our undergraduate programs have particular strength and emphasis in design. Preference will be given to candidates with significant post-doctoral academic experience or design experience in industry, and whom can teach one of our core engineering design courses. Eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario is a requirement of this position at the time of hiring.
The University of Guelph has well-established and accredited undergraduate and graduate degree programs in Biological Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Engineering Systems and Computing, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Water Resources Engineering. At present the School is comprised of over 61 faculty members, 33 staff and technicians, 1,750 undergraduate students and 300 graduate students.
