Position Description:

The School of Engineering at the University of Guelph invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level.

The University of Guelph, School of Engineering, seeks outstanding candidates for a tenure-track assistant professor position in the discipline of electrical engineering. The ideal candidate will develop an internationally recognized, externally funded and independent research program, supervise graduate and undergraduate students, teach courses at undergraduate and graduate levels, develop and teach innovative graduate and undergraduate courses for a new Electrical Engineering offering that is being planned, and provide service to the University and the engineering profession.

To be considered for this position, applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, systems engineering, or closely related engineering field; have earned a doctorate in electrical engineering or a related field; have an outstanding research and publication record; and have teaching experience at the university level. We are particularly interested in applicants who have a strong research record in the broad area of sensors and instrumentation including, but not limited to, sensor design and testing; sensor integration; circuits and systems for smart sensors; algorithms for sensor fusion and sensor edge computing; sensor cyber security; and MEMS based sensors. Eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario is a requirement of this position at the time of hiring.

The University of Guelph has well-established and accredited undergraduate and graduate degree programs in Biological Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Engineering Systems and Computing, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Water Resources Engineering. At present, the School is comprised of over 62 faculty members, 34 staff and technicians, 1700 undergraduate students and 350 graduate students.
