Position Description:
The School of Engineering at the University of Guelph invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the level of Assistant Professor, in the area of Mechanical Engineering. Applicants must have research expertise in the area of mechatronics.
The ideal candidate will develop an internationally-recognized, externally-funded and independent research program, supervise graduate and undergraduate students, teach courses at undergraduate and graduate levels, develop and teach innovative graduate and undergraduate courses for a new Mechatronics Engineering offering that is being planned, and provide service to the University and the engineering profession.
The candidate must hold an earned PhD in mechanical (or mechatronics) engineering or a closely related field. Eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario is a requirement of this position at the time of hiring.
The University of Guelph has well-established and accredited undergraduate and graduate degree programs in Biological Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Engineering Systems and Computing, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Water Resources Engineering. At present, the School is comprised of over 62 faculty members, 34 staff and technicians, 1700 undergraduate students and 350 graduate students.

Assessment of applications will begin on April 1, 2022 and will continue until the position is filled. Interested applicants should submit the following materials (preferably as a single PDF file): (1) a cover letter; (2) a curriculum vitae; (3) a statement of teaching vision (max. 4 pages), (4) a statement of research and development vision (max. 4 pages), (5) A statement to provide evidence of a commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI). (6) two of their best recent journal publications relevant to mechatronics, and (7) the contact details for five referees.
