Position Description:

The Department of Marketing and Consumer Studies at the University of Guelph invites applications from outstanding candidates with a passion for teaching excellence through engaged and active learning, student advising and community engagement, for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level. Preferences will be given to candidates with expertise in teaching and coordinating introductory classes (such as introduction to marketing and business communications) in sections with large enrolments and higher-level courses (such as sales and digital marketing).

Applicants should preferably have a PhD in marketing and related areas. The department will also consider candidates with master’s degree in marketing and related areas with extensive experience in managing and advising undergraduate business programs and/or with significant industry experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching (at the undergraduate level) and service (including advising regular and co-op students, managing undergraduate case competitions, and other related activities). The successful candidate will also be expected to manage and enhance our engagement with industry partners, as well as conducting research in marketing and related areas. As such, the successful candidate will be responsible for allocating 60% of the time (or effort) in teaching, 30% in service, and 10% in research.

The Department of Marketing and Consumer Studies is an integral part of the Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics. Formed in 2006, the Lang School of Business is the youngest college at the University of Guelph but delivers one of the largest undergraduate business programs in Ontario with over 3,800 students currently enrolled. The Lang School of Business provides a learning environment that encourages critical reflection, personal growth, and promotes traditional and emerging themes of business and economics. We offer a wide range of specialized programs in business and economics across undergraduate, graduate, and professional education.
