Position Description:
The Department of Clinical Studies, Ontario Veterinary College, at the University of Guelph, invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Veterinary Neurology at the Assistant or Associate Professor level.
Applicants must have a DVM or equivalent degree, must be licensed or eligible for licensure to practice veterinary medicine in the Province of Ontario, and should be a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Neurology) or European College of Veterinary Neurology or eligible for the certification examination with one of these Colleges. Candidates must have demonstrated research capability and possessing an advanced research degree is highly desirable. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in clinical medicine and outstanding teaching and communication skills. The successful candidate will work full-time with another full-time neurologist to provide didactic and clinical instruction in Veterinary Neurology and related disciplines to DVM undergraduates, interns, residents and graduate students. Service activities will include the healthcare of patients, communication with clients and referring veterinarians and consultation within the OVC Health Science Centre and limited administrative activities. Research of a collaborative or independent nature consistent with the research goals of the Department and College is expected. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to conduct research in partnership with the Comparative ad Translational Regenerative Medicine Network and other Centers and Institutes at OVC.
The successful candidate will participate in out-of-hours emergency duty equitably with other section members. The OVC Health Science Centre offers state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment including but not limited to MRI, CT scanner, digital radiology, PACS system, state-of-the-art ultrasonography, scintigraphy, Holter cardiology equipment, videoendoscopy, and more, all of which are supported by faculty and staff committed to delivering the very best of patient care. Other specialty services include Emergency Medicine and Critical Care, Small and Large Animal Internal Medicine, Small and Large Animal Surgery, Cardiology, Dermatology, Oncology, Ophthalmology, and Anesthesiology.
The Ontario Veterinary College is a founding college of the University of Guelph. The Department of Clinical Studies focuses on the health and disease in companion and large animals and one health in underserved or disadvantaged communities. The outstanding faculty provide veterinary student and graduate-level training and research in clinical veterinary medicine and related areas and teach and provide patient care in the OVC Health Sciences Centre, the referral hospital for southern Ontario and beyond, and shelter and Indigenous communities.
