Position Description:

The Department of Management, Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics at the University of Guelph invites applications from internal applicants for three (3) tenure-track positions at the Assistant Professor level. The start date for the appointments is August 1, 2023, or a mutually acceptable date.

The positions’ responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses that support the Lang School’s innovative and entrepreneurial programs, and scholarly inquiry through publications, industry partnership, and community engagement to advance Lang’s commitment to business as a force for good.

The successful candidates will hold a doctoral degree in Management or a related field, or will complete a doctoral degree, as stated within the University of Guelph Faculty Association Collective Agreement. Candidates will have a minimum of 3 years of academic work experience in the management area. For one of the positions, the ideal candidate will have a strong interest/background in organizational behaviour and human resources with a focus on developing and implementing curriculum on EDI strategies within organizations. For the second position, the ideal candidate will have a strong background in analytics, strategy, and innovation management. The third position will have a strong practice background and experience in teaching in Executive Programs, with a strong track record of service, particularly academic advising. For these positions, experience with developing DE courses is an asset.

The new recruits are expected to contribute to further development of professionally oriented courses in management for our undergraduate and graduate programs. Furthermore, the new recruits are expected to contribute to delivery of the program portfolio of the Department of Management and the Lang Executive Programs. The successful candidates will be expected to participate actively in growing and promoting the inclusive innovation and entrepreneurship programs of DOM and Lang. The successful candidates’ research and teaching will contribute to emergent dialogues at the intersections of business, environmental, social justice, reconciliation and decolonization, aligning with the University of Guelph’s mandate to Improve Life.

The Department of Management is an integral part of the Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics. Formed in 2006, the Lang School is the youngest college at the University of Guelph, but delivers one of the largest undergraduate business programs in Ontario with over 3,800 students currently enrolled. Our School provides a learning environment that encourages critical reflection, personal growth, and promotes traditional and emerging themes of management and economics. We offer a wide range of specialized programs in business and economics across undergraduate, graduate, and professional/executive education.

Salary for this position depends on qualifications and experience in accordance with the Collective agreement terms.
