Leaves from wild plants are used as stimulant (tea) in North America. Leaves contain methyl-salicylate the basis of medicinal wintergreen, which is also used in beverage industry, perfumery and soap and cosmetical industry. The oil is now being replaced by synthetic products and an essential oil obtained from Betula lenta.(1) |
