The use of the unripe fruit as a vegetable is most important, both in primitive and highly advanced agriculture. Some forms are cultivated for their seed oil; the seeds have an oil content of up to 40% and yield a good-quality oil. Also used mature as a winter squash and as a fodder plant.(1) |
