Ethnobotanical Notes: |
The bright red, pleasantly acid fruits are eaten fresh or dried and are made into jam, jellies, preserves, sauces etc. In Korea they are medicinally used. Also cultivated for the fruits, as sand-binder and for erosion control, as sheltering hedge, and as ornamental. In North America widely grown for wildlife support, and in walnut orchards for manuring because of its nitrogen-fixing ability.(1) |
