The dried flowers are used as spice, root tubers and flower buds are eaten as vegetable. The root extract is diuretic, anti-swelling. It is used for oliguria, gonorrhoe and breast abscess. Medicinal use for women in child birth, applied externally in pains, the flower extract as blood purifier, in folk medicine for ascites, hepatitis, hemorrhoe and as sedativum. Also anti-bacterial activity.(1) |
