Ethnobotanical Notes: The black fruits have a special strong taste and are rarely eaten raw. They are rich in vitamins and possess a strong staining ability (red, forms with yellow or greenish fruits were recently selected). Preferably they are processed in tasty juices, jams, jellies, wines and liqueurs. Important as medicinal plant, especially for the leaves, which are also used for tea.(1)
