Planted for dune and bank stabilization, recovering lignite mining areas in Germany and timber. Recently grown as a medicinal plant for the analgetic bark extract on Madeira. The branches are used for coarse basket-work and fascines. The bark is suitable for tanning and salicin extraction.(1) |
