Ethnobotanical Notes: |
The tree is cultivated for the root bark, which is exploited as a source of sassafras oil, an important flavouring obtained by distillation. This essential oil is used medicinally and in manufacture of soaps and cosmetics. The root bark also serves as condiment. The wood is suitable for the manufacture of posts, furniture, and boxes.(1) |
