MCE 1: Wireless Broadband
The wireless broadband MCE's created using the python module displayed results which showed a lack of cellular connectivity in the northern regions of the provinces. This is explained in the data by the population criteria which limited the introduction of new broadband technology to areas with low population counts. The outcome of the cellular MCE maps has been split into three maps encompassing all of Canada.
The Western Canada MCE displays a large potential benefit to the districts in Southern Saskatchewan, which is a direct result of population clusters within the province. Saskatchewan has the heaviest concentration of potentially suitable areas for broadband improvements and is represented this way in the final list of locations as it has multiple areas ranking highest in the potential for development.
Figure 9: Cellular connections in Western Canada
Central Canada had results which point to the average connectivity being much better than other places in Canada. The southernmost tip of Ontario had only one district which ranked among the mid-level values. This total coverage suggests that southern Ontario could be avoided when choosing locations for further development.

The Eastern Provinces typically saw a lower potential for improvement than did the Western provinces, and this stems from the highly dense population. In the eastern provinces, the population is highly concentrated in small census districts creating many small, high potential areas, surrounded by low potential. This creates difficulty when determining areas for the development of broadband infrastructure as the algorithm used to determine density is skewed by the very small census districts.
