To compare the MCE outputs with the proposed wind farm development of EDP Renewables using overlay analyses.
Once the three suitability maps were finished, they were analyzed and compared to the proposed wind farm development plans of the company. Overlaying these suitability maps with the proposed plan of EDP Renewables is beneficial for comparative purposes, providing further understanding of common suitable areas between each method, if any, as well as identifying where the two development plans have conflicting suitability outputs. Since the suitability decision-making of EDP Renewables for siting this wind farm was not pubicly released, it is unknown how strong the similarities would be between the MCE outputs of this study and the wind farm location designated by EDP.
The plan of EDP Renewables was visually compared to the MCE outputs calculated in ArcGIS. To find and count any overlaid cells that may not be visible in the program due to a cell size resolution of 30 m x 30 m, the Weighted Sum Tool was used to overlay the MCE output and EDP plan, giving them equal overlay weight. The results were made were analyzed and manipulated into an output map.
