Research Objectives and Purpose of Research

Purpose of the Research

The purpose of this research is to integrate both wildfire vulnerability and susceptibility into a GIS-based wildfire risk model in order to determine wildfire risk in the southern British Columbia interior.

 Research Objectives

Objective 1.     Identify factors or variables related to wildfire susceptibility and vulnerability

Objective 2.     Develop a GIS-based multi-criteria evaluation (MCE) model that determines overall wildfire risk by incorporating both wildfire susceptibility and vulnerability factors

Objective 3.     Apply the GIS-based MCE model to British Columbia’s southern interior eco province in order to determine wildfire risk

Objective 4.     Assess the strengths and weaknesses of the GIS-based MCE model
