SMAP Canadian Workshop 2017 Registration
The Soil Moisture Active Passive (SMAP) observatory has been in space for nearly two years now. With its L-band active and passive sensors, this mission has been designed to provide accurate and frequent global measurements of soil moisture and of the soil freeze/thaw state. Under the leadership of Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) and with support from the Canadian Space Agency (CSA), the "Canadian Science and Applications Plan for SMAP" has resulted in the involvement and collaboration between several scientists from Canada's government and academia.
In the context of this project, a workshop will take place on 16-17 May 2017, hosted by Guelph University, Ontario, Canada. The main objective of this meeting is to reflect on achievements regarding data utilization, algorithm development, calibration / validation, and data impact evaluation. The meeting will provide an opportunity for all the scientists involved to once more present the results of their studies, and discuss aspects that remain to be examined until the end of this current round of projects (early in 2018). The workshop will also be useful for distribution of information by SMAP Project on the current status of the mission, and for discussions related to future (post-project) opportunities.
