Canada Graduate Scholarships-Master's (CGS M) Program

The objective of the Canada Graduate Scholarships-Master's (CGS M) Program is to help develop research skills and assist in the training of highly qualified personnel by supporting students who demonstrate a high standard of achievement in undergraduate and early graduate studies. The Tri-council allocates CGS M awards to universities specifying the number of awards that each may offer to their students annually. CGS M awards can only be offered to students pursing graduate studies at eligible Canadian universities, and the award must be held at the university that has made the offer.

Find out how to apply to hold a CGS M at the University of Guelph here.

CIHR Doctoral Research Award

CIHR Canada Graduate Scholarships for doctoral studies are valued at $35,000 for 36 months.

Applicants apply directly to CIHR through ResearchNet. For detailed ResearchNet instructions, visit CIHR's website.

Important notes:

  1. Although the University of Guelph does not adjudicate CIHR Doctoral applications at the institutional level, we do submit the applications to CIHR on behalf of the university and therefore have an internal deadline date of September 17, 2018 (8:00 p.m. EST) which is earlier than the October 2, 2018 deadline posted on ResearchNet.  Although the instructions on ResearchNet advise you to complete the CCV first, we advise you to go into the ResearchNet application first and at least select the Institution that will administer your funds. Once you go in and select the university their internal deadline date will show.  Our deadline for the upcoming competition will be released soon.  All documents including transcripts, reference letters and signature pages must be submitted by our internal deadline date.
  2. The Signature Pages are required documents that you must include in your application.  Only the supervisor's signature is required.  No institutional signatures are required at the time of application but you still need to scan and upload all 3 pages.
