Ontario Graduate Fellowships (OGF) Program

The Ontario Graduate Fellowships (OGF) program recognizes academic excellence in graduate studies at the master's and doctoral levels in all disciplines of academic study.

 

The OGF is valued at $3,000 per semester, for three semesters.


Students do not apply. Nominations will be put forward according to the process and deadline determined within each College. Nominations that are endorsed by the College Dean’s Office are due to the Office of Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies by August 31, 2018.


Academic excellence as defined by a combination of grades, research, demonstrated leadership and publications.


Nominees must:

  • Be Canadian citizens, permanent residents or international students.
  • Be registered or intend to register in an eligible program on a full-time basis in 2018-19.
  • Nominees must have an A- or 80% average in each of the last two years of full-time (or equivalent) study.  Students with no grades in either of the last two years, but who were registered full-time in graduate studies, may also be nominated.

 

To hold an OGF, recipients:

  • Must register and remain enrolled as a full-time student at U of G in an eligible program.
  • Must maintain excellent academic standing.
  • Students cannot hold a Tri-council scholarship (CIHR, NSERC, SSHRC, Vanier), Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) or Queen Elizabeth Graduate Scholarship in Science & Technology (QEII-GSST) during the same period of study. OGF is tenable with other awards.
  • Can only hold the award for up to two years during a Master’s Program and up to 4 years for a Doctoral Program.  It cannot be held beyond the second year for a master's student or beyond the fourth year for a Doctoral student.
