My research uses mathematical models and computer simulation to help identify improved infectious disease prevention and control strategies in both humans and animals. Our work has a significant impact on public health and veterinary health, by strengthening planning and disease control strategies to prevent infectious disease outbreaks.
Our program offers an opportunity to work with diverse faculty, develop and apply theory and qualitative, quantitative & mixed research skills and communicate in clear and accessible written, oral and visual forms with and for multiple audiences to affect positive social change.
My general research interests are interdisciplinary, and straddle the disciplines of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering. Currently, I have particular interest in developing algorithmic solutions to optimization problems that arise in both FPGA and VLSI design flows. My other active areas of research include...
Promotion of dairy cattle health, production, efficiency, and welfare not only contributes to economic viability of the dairy production sector, but also provides benefits to the consumers of milk products. These benefits include environmental sustainability, maintenance of milk nutritional quality and safety, as well as assurance that milk is sourced from animals that have been raised humanely.
My research focuses mainly on personnel selection, with an emphasis on finding valid and fair methods of hiring the best employees. Most recently, I have investigated employment interviews as a promising approach to measuring personality in job applicants. My research also...
The two MA programs in European Studies are interdisciplinary in nature and allow students to develop transcultural competencies. The programs promote cutting edge research in a collegial and dynamic environment. The Erasmus Mundus program is the only one of its kind in Canada and brings to Guelph a large number of international students.
My current research is examining weather impacts on specialty crop production in Ontario. Historical analysis provides insight into conditions favourable for production, allowing for better...
My main areas of research include computer systems security and intrusion detection and prevention systems. In the latter part, I aim to create an intrusion detection and prevention system which are able to detect and protect network intrusions effectively and in reasonable
