Family Relations and Applied Nutrition

About my research…

An Applied Social Psychologist, I study naturally occurring real-world conversations to explore how personal and professional relationships are constituted in talk-in-interaction. Most recently, I have been using applied conversation analysis as an evidence-based way to investigate and support best practices in clinical communication in the professional domains of psychotherapy and veterinary medicine.

How my Research Improves Life…

My research has been used to support communication training for students and professional development for practitioners to increase their effectiveness in the fields of counseling and veterinary medicine.

Why you should choose Guelph…

I had the good fortune of choosing to come to Guelph for my PhD. Not only did I receive an excellent education; I found the University of Guelph to be a welcoming and supportive environment. As a faculty member here, I try to provide the same kind of support and mentoring that I received.
