About My Research…

My research lies at the intersection between serious mental illness and drug addiction. This is a chicken-or-egg question that has been difficult to answer. By combing behavioural, pharmacological and neuroimaging approaches, we test the causal underpinnings of these co-occurring disorders.

How Will Your Research Improve Life?

The problem this research addresses is the high prevalence of substance use in patients with serious mental illness, which is a significant health care burden. By understanding the neural underpinning a of these disorders, we can target these mechanisms for treatment development, which can help improve life for patients and their families.
