About my research...

Global transitions are creating both opportunities and challenges for the future of rural communities, both in Canada and internationally. My research focuses on rural revitalization in the face of these global transitions. My current research explores the role of rural governance, place-based development, philanthropy, rural policy, community economic development, and rural immigration and mobility. Further information on my current research initiatives can be found at www.ruraldev.ca.

How my research can improve life?

Rural communities throughout Canada and internationally are confronted with a number of large transitions and I am interested in understanding and helping these communities achieve stability and long-term sustainability to improve life. My research operates at the crossroads of rural planning, local development, public policy, and academic knowledge.
