About the UofG Campus...

Other universities feel like universities, but U of G feels like home. I love that the campus has trees, green spaces, and historic buildings combined with modern elements. Where else would you get to see a cannon regularly painted in the cover of darkness, or a bear statue dressed up for special occasions? The student community is also wonderfully supportive, kind, outgoing, and charismatic. U of G has a personality like no other school.

How my Research will Improve Life...

My research will improve life by helping better understand parents in the home environment, and identify what supports will help them to have a healthy and happy family.

Why I Chose Guelph…

I completed my undergraduate studies at U of G, and I could not imagine feeling more at home in any other university. U of G is one of the most research-intensive universities in Canada, and the support available for students is great. I chose Guelph for my master's because of the amazing opportunity to work with the Guelph Family Health Study, which looks at health behaviours in children aged five and under. This study takes a multidisciplinary look at how to help kids learn healthy lifestyle behaviours. The GFHS team, as well as my advisor, have all been supportive and incredible to work with.

My Future Plans…

I came into my undergraduate studies wanting to absorb as much information as I could. Now, in my graduate studies, I continue to seek out new information but I also developed a strong interest in sharing knowledge with others. After graduation, I plan to work in the field of knowledge translation and help others learn about health sciences in a way that facilitates comprehensive understanding without needing an extensive scientific background.
